Supreme Court reserves judgment in David Mark’s appeal on ADC’s leadership dispute

The Supreme Court has reserved its judgment in the appeal filed by factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in relation to the leadership dispute in the party. A five-member panel, headed by Justice Mohammed Garba announced on Wednesday that the date of judgment would be communicated to lawyers who represented parties. Justice Garba made the announcement after lawyers to parties adopted their various briefs and prayed the court to grant their reliefs.

Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Algeria, Lele, dies at 50

The Federal Government has announced the death of Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Algeria, Mohammed Mahmud Lele, who died at the age of 50. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa. According to the ministry, Lele died in the early hours of April 19, 2026, in Ankara, Türkiye, after a protracted illness. The ministry described the late diplomat as a dedicated officer who served the country with distinction.

FG to waive airline debts as Tinubu intervenes in aviation fuel crisis

The Federal Government has announced plans to waive debts owed by domestic airlines to aviation agencies as part of measures to cushion the impact of the ongoing Jet A1 fuel crisis. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, made the disclosure during a high-level meeting in Abuja on Wednesday evening, convened to address the astronomical rise in the cost of Jet A1 fuel.

Davido made the announcement on X on Tuesday, expressing excitement over his new political role in his uncle’s campaign structure.

Chelsea Manager, Liam Rosenior Sacked, Interim Manager Appointed

English Premier League clubside, Chelsea Football Club have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after 106 days in charge of the club. Rosenior signed a five-and-a-half-year deal after arriving from French club Strasbourg, also owned by Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. However, he managed just 11 wins in 23 matches across all competitions and Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton was Chelsea’s fifth consecutive league defeat without scoring, the club’s worst scoreless run since 1912.
