INEC Declares Ademola Adeleke Winner of Osun Election 2026 [Video]

INEC has declared Ademola Adeleke the winner of the 2026 Osun election.

Philips News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, has declared Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

This newspaper understands that the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, who is also the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, announced the Osun election results on Sunday morning, August 16, 2026.

According to the results announced by INEC, Adeleke won the election after polling 511,067 votes against his opponent, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 444,815 votes.

On the other hand, Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, scored 17,180 votes, coming third on the ballot.

Addressing journalists after winning the election, Governor Adeleke said: “This is a victory for democracy in Nigeria; it’s a victory for Osun people that have stood by me.”
