1. The Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on Wednesday granted former governor Nasir el-Rufai permission to seek medical treatment in Abuja. In a statement issued by J. 2. The National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has waived the screening requirement for President Bola Tinubu, declaring him cleared to participate in the party’s primary elections without appearing before a screening committee. The decision was taken at the NWC’s 188th meeting on Wednesday and announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

3. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, challenged the Tanimu Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, daring it to open an official party secretariat in Abuja and bank account if they genuinely believed they controlled the opposition party. Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Wike promised to seal any such office the moment it is established in Abuja.

4. The defections rocking the African Democratic Congress continued in Edo State on Wednesday as some prominent members quit the party. Among them are a former Chief Whip of the Senate, Sir Rowland Owie, and a founding member of the party, Sunny Aguebor, who, alongside others, defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

5. The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Friday, May 8, for the hearing in the suit filed by Mr Nafiu-Bala Gombe against Sen. David Mark and others over the leadership dispute in the African Democratic Party, ADC. Justice Nwite fixed the date following an application letter for a hearing date in the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/1819/2025, by counsel to the plaintiff (Gombe), Luka Haruna, SAN,.

6. The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of nine properties linked to former minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylvia, to the Federal Government. 7. The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Mr Joseph Tegbe as Minister of power following his successful screening at the plenary. The senators noted that Nigeria’s installed generation exceeded 13,000MW yet actual supply rarely surpasses 4,500MW because transmission and distribution systems remained weak.

The drama began when Oshiomhole attempted to raise a point of order while Akpabio called for the approval and adoption of the Votes and Proceedings of the previous legislative day.

9. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, knocked Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, accusing him of placing his second-term ambition above governance. Wike expressed shock that Fubara has failed to present a budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly.

10. Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is expected to appear today (Thursday) before the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna for the continuation of his trial over alleged corruption and abuse of office.
