1. Troops of the Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, have intercepted a suspected ammunition courier along the Abaji–Kwali Road in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. Sources said the operation was carried out at about 7:09 p.m. on Monday, May 3, by personnel of the 176 Guards Battalion following credible intelligence.

2. A Federal High Court in Abuja Monday saw video recordings of investigators’ interview sessions with three of the six men being prosecuted over an alleged plot to overthrow the President Bola Tinubu administration. In the video recordings played in the open court, two of the three defendants – retired Navy Captain Erasmus Ochegobia Victor and Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim – admitted being aware of the coup plot.

3. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano Strategic Command, has raided the Bayero University Kano old site area and arrested six suspects allegedly involved in illicit drug activities. It was gathered that the operation also led to the dismantling of several drug joints within and around the area.

4. Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have apprehended 25 suspected cultists, including 10 females, in a renewed push against criminal elements in the state. A statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Timfon John, on Monday, stated that the suspects were arrested in the Abak Local Government Area of the state during a meeting of their members.

5. A leading promoter of the All Democratic Alliance, ADA, Dr Umar Ardo, has raised fresh concerns over alleged irregularities in the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, vowing to challenge the process in court. ADA is one of the 171 political associations that applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for registration as political parties.

6. National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has criticised former presidential aspirant of the party, Peter Obi, alleging that he showed little interest in the party’s manifesto during his brief stay in the coalition plotting to unseat President Bola Tinubu. Speaking during an interview on ARISE Television, Abdullahi questioned Obi’s familiarity with the party’s positions on key national issues.

7. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU with two Chinese companies, Sanjiang Chemical Company Limited and Xingcheng, Fuzhou Industrial Park Operation and Management Co. Ltd, for potential Technical Equity Partnership, TEP in support of the completion and operation of the Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries.

8. The National Working Committee of the Labour Party, LP, has offered Governor Alex Otti a free nomination form to contest the 2027 elections. The party which released its timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of its 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, said the timetable is in line with the Nigeria constitution, the Electoral Act, 2026.

9. The Federal Government has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the death of two Nigerians in South Africa, as it moves to fast-track the implementation of a bilateral Early Warning Mechanism to address rising xenophobic tensions and threats against foreign nationals. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, disclosed this in Abuja.

10. No fewer than 16 persons have been killed following a reprisal attack by bandits on communities in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State, and in a fresh attack by terrorists in Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. This came as the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, confirmed the abduction of two of its staff in Ogun State, raising fresh concerns over security along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode corridor.
