Singer Omah Lay says Afrobeats is declining overseas.
Philips News reports that Nigerian singer Omah Stanley Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has claimed that Afrobeats is declining, especially in Western countries.
Speaking at his Lagos Warehouse Session on Thursday night, Omah Lay said the massive reception Afrobeats received abroad a few years ago has begun to dwindle.
“Overseas, Afrobeats is declining. It is facts. Our artistes are doing really great, but the Afrobeats that you guys used to know in 2020-2024, are not the Afrobeats you know now anymore,” he said.
The singer revealed that he has been studying his idols and seeking a way to revive the Nigerian music scene.
Omah Lay claimed that his music will help many of his colleagues improve their craft and restore Afrobeats’ global momentum.
