A Top Northern Nigeria Politician has died in an Egyptian Hospital.

Philips News reports that the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Ankwai is dead.

This newspaper understands that the Top Northern Nigeria Politician died on Monday evening in Cairo, Egypt, where he had been on admission for treatment on an undisclosed ailment, according to a statement issued by Murtala Diri, an official of the Kebbi State House of Assembly.

In the statement shared on his official Facebook page, the Kebbi State House of Assembly official described the death of Ankwai as a significant loss to his community.

“The death of the Speaker is a significant loss to his constituents, the legislative body, and the state in general,” the statement noted.

Before his death, PhilipsNews reports that Ankwai represented the Zuru Constituency and was a prominent political figure within the Zuru Emirate.

Late Ankwai was elected Speaker of the 10th Assembly on 8th of June, 2023.

The statement indicated that details of burial arrangements and official condolences for the speaker will be announced by the Kebbi State Government and the deceased’s family.
