1. The Presidency has explained why President Bola Tinubu addressed victims of the recent Plateau attacks at the airport in Jos instead of visiting affected communities. In a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it said logistical and scheduling constraints informed the decision.

2. Several persons have reportedly been trapped after a hotel building identified as Ugo West Hotel, still under construction, collapsed in the Jikwoyi area of Abuja on Friday. The incident has caused panic in the community, with residents and passersby rushing to the scene to assist in rescue efforts.

3. Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), on Thursday, said they have killed three suspected bandits and arrested two fake security operatives in separate operations in Plateau State. In a statement in Jos, the spokesperson of the operation, Captain Polycarb Oteh, said the suspected bandits were killed around Karem, a community of Wase LGA, while the suspected fake security operatives were arrested around Dutse Uku area of Jos North LGA of the state.

4. Benue and Bauchi state governments have evacuated 664 students of the University of Jos in Plateau State who are indigenes of the two states. The evacuation followed the attack by terrorists on residents of the Angwan Rukuba community on Palm Sunday, which left over 24 persons dead.

5. Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has explained why he addressed a tense crowd from an Armoured Tank Carrier, ATC, after Palm Sunday’s deadly attack in Jos, the state capital. Fielding questions during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics today on Friday, the governor attributed his decision to both security considerations and the need to effectively communicate with residents during a volatile moment.

The Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) has intensified its regulatory drive against unsafe practices in the drug distribution system, sealing no fewer than 131 pharmaceutical outlets across Nasarawa State. This was disclosed by the Council’s Head of Enforcement, Dr. Suleiman Chiroma, while addressing journalists in Karu.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Plateau State following the deadly attack that claimed more than 40 lives, describing the trip as insensitive and lacking compassion for the victims. This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Friday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong.

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has insisted on going ahead with its planned congresses and convention, despite the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, derecognizing its leadership. In a notice released on Friday by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the congress is expected to last from April 7th to 14th, 2026.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should have recognized Nafiu Bala Gombe as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC. Wike stated this while speaking at a media briefing in Abuja on Friday.

10. Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan, has explained why the commission decided to revalidate voter cards ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Arise News on Friday, Amupitan said that INEC’s records have about 93 million voters, which is inaccurate.
