1. Leaders of the African Democratic Congress joined a large demonstration in Abuja on Wednesday, protesting decisions by the Independent National Electoral Commission that they said undermined democracy and the party’s internal leadership. The protest, tagged #OccupyINEC, drew former presidential candidates and prominent politicians, including Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso to the INEC facility.

2. The Lagos State Government has sealed two large properties in Victoria Island over environmental infractions linked to wastewater mismanagement and pollution. The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

3. The Independent National Electoral Commission has recorded over 3.4 million new voters in the ongoing second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise nationwide. According to the commission’s week 13 update released on Wednesday in Abuja, a total of 3,441,121 registrations have been completed as of April 3, covering both online pre-registrations and physical walk-ins.

4. The US Department of State has authorised non-emergency US government employees and their family members to leave the US Embassy in Abuja, citing a deteriorating security situation across Nigeria. In an updated travel advisory issued on Wednesday, the department noted that, starting April 8, 2026, Americans are advised to reconsider travel to the country due to crime, terrorism, kidnapping, and civil unrest.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Independent System Operator, Abdu Bello, has said Nigeria’s power sector was losing between N5bn and N8bn monthly to transmission inefficiencies, even as he revealed that targeted interventions by the operator have begun to cut losses and improve grid stability.

6. The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged members to disregard a meeting between the Taminu Turaki-led faction and the African Democratic Congress, ADC. A source at the company confirmed that its pricing structure remains intact, with the gantry price at N1,200 per litre and the coastal price at N1,153 per litre.

9. An estimated 2000 people from communities in the western part of Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have abandoned their villages over a likely reprisal attack by bandits. One of the villagers identified as Muhammad Murtala said on Wednesday that they were compelled to abandon their parental villages and run for safety.

The Federal Government has dismissed claims that Nigeria is on the verge of collapse, insisting that the country remains stable and is making steady progress in addressing its security and economic challenges. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja.
