Dangote has broken the silence on the purported rift with Tony Elumelu.
Philips News reports that the Dangote Group has dismissed circulating reports suggesting a disagreement between its founder, Aliko Dangote, and fellow business leader Tony Elumelu.
The company described the claims as false and misleading, warning that those responsible for spreading such information could face legal consequences.
Dangote Group Reacts to Viral Allegations
The response follows a widely shared social media post that alleged a fallout between Dangote and Elumelu during the construction of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
According to the viral claim, Dangote reportedly sought financial assistance from prominent associates after encountering funding challenges, with Elumelu allegedly promising support before later withdrawing.
However, Dangote Group firmly rejected the narrative, stating that neither its founder nor the company made such claims. The organisation described the story as fabricated and intended to mislead the public.
Company Denies Borrowing Claims
The company also addressed assertions that the refinery project was financed through personal loans from business associates.
It maintained that its operations are not funded through informal borrowing arrangements, stressing that such reports misrepresent how the project was executed.
Dangote Group challenged anyone making such allegations to provide verifiable evidence to support their claims.
Dangote Group Elumelu Rift Denial:
Clarifying the situation, the company stated that there is no conflict or breakdown in the relationship between Dangote and Elumelu.
It emphasized that both business leaders continue to maintain a longstanding and cordial relationship, dismissing suggestions of any disagreement as entirely false.
Warning Over Misinformation
Dangote Group expressed concern over what it described as a growing trend of false content, including manipulated or AI-generated materials using Dangote’s identity.
The company warned individuals, organisations, and digital platforms against spreading unverified information, noting that such actions could harm reputations and mislead the public.
Legal Action Threatened
As part of its response, the company stated that it is prepared to take legal steps against those responsible for creating or distributing the false claims.
It urged all parties involved to desist from further dissemination of misleading content, emphasizing its commitment to protecting its corporate image and leadership.
PhilipsNews reports that with a warning of possible legal action, the Dangote Group has moved to protect its reputation and clarify the relationship between the two prominent business figures.
The controversy over the alleged rift highlights the increasing impact of social media narratives on public perception, particularly when they involve high-profile business figures.
Analysts note that misinformation can spread rapidly online, making timely clarification from affected parties essential.
